BENJY DAVIS PROJECT TO GO ON HIATUS

Benjy Davis Project, the Baton Rouge, LA-based band, led by Benjy Davis and Mic Capdevielle, is planning to go on hiatus in 2011. After touring almost non-stop in 2010, the band is taking a much-needed break to clear their heads, re-energize and to allow Davis some time to write new songs. The band plans to tour through February 28th this calendar year (see tour schedule below).

Says Davis about the hiatus: "Mic and I love working together. We've done a lot of talking and decided together that now would be a good time to go our separate ways for a while and get fresh perspectives. As for me, that means having more time to concentrate on writing songs and doing solo dates here and there. We look forward to playing together again, and we're both extremely proud of the work we've done together, most recently 'Lost Souls Like Us' and 'Sincerely.' We also feel extremely blessed to have such amazing fans. Thank you for your understanding and constant support."

Their most recent release, a digital-only album called "Sincerely" featuring acoustic renditions of a number of Benjy Davis Project favorites as well as a new track, "Crashes," was released on January 18, 2011, and is available on Amazon. Benjy Davis Project released a free digital sampler ("Paper Trails") on Amazon last summer and their most recent studio album, "Lost Souls Like Us," came out on March 2, 2010, debuting on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart at #15, the Billboard Indie Albums Chart at #50 and at #76 on the Billboard Current Digital Albums Chart. On iTunes, the album hit #5 on the Rock Chart and was Top 30 on iTunes in overall sales week of release.

Since the release of the album, the band toured as a four-piece, featuring founding group members Benjy Davis and Mic Capdevielle and two touring musicians who rounded out the line-up. Benjy Davis Project has toured extensively, including seven performances at New Orleans' annual Jazz Fest, Voodoo Fest, and countless college performances, as well as jaunts with Sister Hazel, Robert Randolph, Buckwheat Zydeco, Ingram Hill, and many others.
